Weekly worship is vital for continued spiritual renewal and is an integral part of the ministry here at St. John's. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 95:5-7, "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."
The worship ministry is responsible for the music, ushers, church decorating, communion supplies, and other items related to worship. They plan special services including Mission Festival, Friendship Sundays, Youth Sunday, and Senior Sunday.
Instead of a single adult choir we have now reorganized our choir around the church year. We offer a Fall Choir which covers the church year September through December, and a Spring Choir which performs January through May. Men's and Women's choirs are also formed for special events and concerts throughout the year.
Sr. Handbell Choir
St. John's is blessed to own five octaves of handbells. The Senior Bell Choir participates in one or two worship services a month. The Senior Handbell Choir welcomes any adults or high school students who have an interest in performing with them.
Jr. Handbell Choir
St. John's offers the same musical opportunity for kids as we do for the adult handbell choir. Jr. Bells is open to any child in grades 3-8th at St. John's school. We currently have both a beginner and intermediate choir based on musical experience.
In addition to the listed musical groups, St. John's hosts a Brass Quartet which performs at many worship services throughout the year. Many other instruments are used in worship including weekly use of our pipe organ by gifted musicians.
